Final demonstration

Turin Marathon course

The SkyMedia project will end on November 2012 with a final demonstration of the system during Turin Marathon 2012.

Turin Marathon is a classical sport event that attracts thousands of professional and amateur runners every year. The marathon starts and ends in the centre of the city of Turin, in the beautiful Piazza Castello, and touches along its course also seven villages in the nearbies of Turin.

The SkyMedia equipment will cover the first 5 kilometers of the marathon course.

The SkyMedia operating Center will be placed in the "Parco Valentino" which is located next to the marathon path. The UAV landing area will be located into the park while the ground control station will be located close to the SkyMedia Operating Center. An additional VIP room will be set up in the park and will comprise FogScreen, HD/3D displays, 3D tablets and smartphones. Moreover, camera clusters will be installed along the marathon path in the park.

The SkyMedia system will be used to deliver to the audience a richer and more complete multimedia experience, during and after the race.

Amateur Runner

A group of amateur runners will be involved in the demonstration: they will bring wearable sensors that will allow to follow runners' physical parameters during the race.

A special group of audience will be selected amongst sponsors, VIP, press and business partners and will be involved in different aspects of the event giving them access to exclusive content.

Spectator

A group of spectators will be allowed to follow the race from their smartphones or from HD or 3D screens which will be deployed along the marathon course.
